Family Background

A lovely family with three young children aged twelve, nine and seven, situated in a beautiful rural village setting are looking for a long-term nanny. The mother is very hands on in the children’s lives, so experience with shared care is essential. The children spend 10 days with their mother and four with their father. You must be animal friendly for this role as the family have a lot of animals including ponies, dogs, ducks, goats, and chickens, although you will not need to look after the animals as they have another member of staff who takes care of this. The client already employs a PA, a full-time groom, a full-time gardener and 2 part time cleaners.

Duties

You should be confident with all aspects of nanny duties that pertain around the three children. You will be responsible for planning and organising activities. You should be happy to clear up after the children and ensure that bedrooms are clean and tidy.

You would help mum with collecting the children from school and help to plan their schedules. After school you will be required to help with the homework and tutor when necessary, so experience in this is beneficial. The children love the outdoors, so planning outdoor and sporting activities with the children would be a hit!  Occasionally, when mum is away, you will be expected to do school drop offs, and stay overnight with the children.

You should be happy to meal plan for the children at the beginning of the week and buy groceries and run errands accordingly. You should be happy to cook for the children and mother and at times children's friends and guests, creating fresh and healthy child-friendly meals.

The afternoons and evenings are often spent taking children to and from activities and waiting for them. You will then help with the bedtime routine and generally lend an extra pair or hands for the family’s needs.

During the school holidays there may be the opportunity for you to travel with the family and your working hours will change slightly depending on where the children are.

You should be flexible and willing to lend an extra pair of hands. You should be confident around children, and passionate about children's development and learning.  You should be capable with both shared and sole charge.
