Family Background
A family of three, the parents are professional and the son is 9 years old.  They have three lovely dogs (one is very large and friendly so you should be confident around animals), and they live in a beautiful part of the world.  They have had a nanny for 3 years, and their current nanny has decided to move to a different country. The live in a 5-bedroom house in West Berkshire (20 mins to Newbury and 20 mins to Reading, 50 mins to London), in a beautiful part of the world.  It is a semi-remote location, with easy access to the shops, and community, but the property feels like it is in a very private part of the world.  It is accessed only by car.  The father works full time and is busy during term time, and the mother works full time. The son is currently at school five days a week. They have a full-time housekeeper/cook who does all the housework.  They are now looking for an organised and capable Nanny/PA to join their family home for a long-term role.

Duties
The role will be split between nanny work and personal assistant duties.  Your nanny duties will focus on the boy – playing with his toys, reading stories and taking him outside to play. He loves nature and playing outside - and has a wonderful imagination.  The father is often around during the school holidays, and the mother works a flexible schedule so this role is a mixture of shared and sole charge.

The family speak English, French and Spanish, if you speak any other languages this is a bonus as you can then communicate with the family. However the father only speaks English so your English must be proficient.  If you have a background in teaching this is a bonus. You will be in charge of all his uniform, room and school organisation, liaising with the mum and dad to ensure that everything is organized.  You should be flexible and adaptive and always willing to adjust to family life.

During the term time, you’ll pick him up from school and then bring him to afterschool activities (by car) so you should be a confident driver and comfortable driving him to these clubs.  Then you’ll bring him home and do his homework and help with his dinner (the housekeeper prepares the dinner).  During school holidays you will be flexible to arrange fun activities and liaise with other nannies and book fun things for you and the boy to do.

The personal assistant duties will be split between personal and business duties, so you should be computer literate, and able to communicate well in email/written form.  You should be happy to do more personal assisting duties during term time, and then during holiday time, this role will shift to more focus around the boy, especially when the parents are busy.  Flexibility is key.  You should be happy to run errands for the family, even take the dogs for a walk, a 'can-do' attitude is key to being flexible and being a valued, long-standing team member of the family life.

The family live near Tutts Clump, West Berkshire, RG7.  This is a live-out role and you should be able to commute easily to the property.
