Family Background

A lovely, friendly Canadian couple who have lived in Asia for many years has relocated to Highgate, London, N6 with their 5-year-old rescue dog. He is a mixed breed, but the couple thinks he is mostly Lurcher. He is friendly but shy and takes a while to get used to new people. He is good with other dogs and loves to go for walks, as well as relax at home.

Duties

The main duties for this role are to take the dog for walks each weekday and keep him company in the afternoons. At first, the lady of the house will join you on dog walks and stay with you until the dog feels comfortable in your presence – you need to have patience and give him time to get you know you. He is a very loving dog and the couple are sure you will fall in love with him.

You will take the dog for roughly hours walk each day, helping to train him and gaining his trust. You will then dog-sit for the afternoon whilst the lady of the house runs her own errands and the husband is at work. If you are studying, the couple are happy for you to bring your laptop with you to work on, or just sit and read whilst you are keeping the dog company.

This is a live out position in Highgate, London, N6.  You should be able to easily commute to the property.

Days/Hours

Your normal hours will be Monday – Friday, 1pm – 5pm. However, these hours can be flexible if you have other commitments. You will also need to be available to do dog-sitting overnight approx. once per month. If you have another job in the morning, for example, this could work very well, you do not need to stay with the dog 24/7 when the family are away but should be happy to stay overnight. He can be left on his own for up to 6 hours.

Languages

You must speak a good level of English.

Special Skills

You should be confident caring for pets and have a love for dogs.
