A carer/companion is sought for an elderly lady located in Stanmore, London, HA7. This is a live out role so you must be able to easily commute to the property.
Package Offered
- £20 - £24 gross per hour depending on experience
- Working 15 hours per week on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays
- Working 9am – 2pm
Client Background
Our client is looking for a discreet and patient companion/carer to help care for their elderly mother. The lady has recently lost her husband and now lives alone. She has no pets in the household. She lives in a lovely 3 bedroom semi-detached property, which has 1.5 bathrooms and homely living areas. She has close family who support her, but is in need of someone to help look after her home, keep her comfortable and act as a companion. The lady has some health issues, including difficulties with her mobility, urinary incontinence, and mental health issues such as manic depression, she is also currently being assessed for dementia.
Duties
You will be there to offer companionship and general care & home support to the principal. You should be happy to assist the lady with personal care, whilst maintaining the upmost discretion during these sensitive moments. She currently gets herself ready for the day without the need for hoists etc, but may in time need assistance with her toileting and mobility. It is important that you have experience with this previously, including using hoists.
The lady has run her own home for many years and would like someone who will be sensitive to this, ensuring her belongings are in their usual places, and being respectful to her household routines. You will help around the house with light housekeeping and ensuring everything is kept tidy to minimise the chance of the principal having a fall. You should be happy to help out with laundry and making the beds as needed. The principal enjoys her pretty garden, and it would be a bonus if you are able to assist with some light gardening on occasion.
You must be happy to do some cooking for the principal. She is a vegetarian and particularly enjoys soups, vegetable, and rice dishes. The successful candidate will assist the lady with general errands, such as trips to the bank, post office, and the grocery shop.
Location
The principal lives Stanmore, London, HA7. This is a live out role, and the successful candidate will be able to easily commute.
Days/Hours
- Working 15 hours per week on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays
- Working 9am – 2pm
- There is the opportunity to increase the hours over time if you are open to this, as the lady feels settled and after building a bond with the candidate
Languages
You must speak a good level of English to communicate with the principal.
Special Skills
You should have experience working as a carer, ideally with clients with mental health issues such as dementia. You should have a gentle and patient nature to be able to bond with the principal and make her feel comfortable.
