Family Background

A family of four, both the mother and father are working professionals.  They have two children, aged 11 and 15.  The parents work long hours and typically have to stay over night mid-week for working schedules.  The mother's head office is a long distance away from where the family lives, so when she goes for meetings typically she will stay over.  The husband works full time also.  They were working in Singapore, but are now back long-term in the UK.  They have an American Cocker which is a smaller version of a cocker spaniel and he is very soppy and friendly.  They have a part time housekeeper who attends the property each week to do all the deep cleaning, ironing and bed changing etc.

Duties

Essentially your role is a combination of Nanny and PA/errands for the family.  You should have a pro-active attitude and approach and be happy to get involved and stuck in to family life.  Both children attend full time school, so you'll be in charge of drop off/collecting from school, and then helping with dinner and homework in the evenings.  Getting them ready for bed and just helping with daily routine.  In the holidays you'll be more involved, planning fun activities and taking them to friends houses and parties.  You should also be happy to cook the children fresh and healthy food, do the food shop each week, and be happy to walk the dog.  Duties focused around tidying up after the children, their laundry and other child-related duties.  But a good attitude and willingness to help with admin/errands is important.  When the parents are away for the night, you'll be doing proxy-parenting overnights, being in charge of the children in the absence of the parents.  There is no travel with the role, but you might be asked to care for the dog/home when the family go on holiday.

Location/Accommodation

The family live Cirencester, Gloucestershire, GL7.  The family are entirely flexible on how the working week occurs.  For example if you do not live locally you could arrive Sunday night, and then depart Friday morning after dropping the children to school.  Alternatively you can live in full time, or you can live out full time if you are based locally.   The parents leave for work very early Monday morning, so this will be important to take into account for those wishing to commute daily.  You should also be prepared to do overnight for proxy-parenting whenever required if you decide to live out.  If you decide to live in or for overnight stays, you will be provided your own private space, bedroom, with a self contained bedroom and bathroom in the rear of the property.

Days/Hours

Five days a week, Sunday evening (arrival) through to Friday (depart) or Monday to Friday if live out.  No weekend work unless rare occasions and then this is agreed in advance.  The parents leave by 7am each day and then return between 6-9pm.  So working days will be typically 7am-9pm with long breaks during the middle of the day.  It is highly likely that unless you live in a commutable distance to the property that you would need to stay overnights during the week, but the family wish to have family time at the weekend, so you would need to live out at the weekend.  For local candidates you are welcome to commute each day as long as you can commit to the flexibility required by the family.

Languages

You should speak a good level of English in order to help the children with their homework.

Special Skills

You need to be able to drive.  If you do not have a car, then one will be provided.
