Family Background
A beautiful country property is now looking for a hands-on maintenance and house manager.  The property is used by the principal.  They have no pets.  The principal lives between London and the country house – with time being equally split between the two properties.  The house has recently undergone extensive renovations, and they now need someone who is extremely strong with building maintenance and management to run the property, and also keep an eye on the London property.  They have a part time housekeeper who attends this property and the London property.

Duties
You should be strong at maintenance and repairs, with a good brain for repairs and upkeep.  Maintenance focused, but also able to manage the property and ensure that it is kept in order.  You will work alongside the housekeeper, and you’ll be expected to manage any contractors or other external staff who come to the property.  Having an eye for detail is key, being able to understand the needs of the principal and children and prepare the property for their arrival.

You should be able to ensure that all aspects of the household are dealt with, from maintenance and upkeep, light garden duties and ensuring that any issues which crop up are quickly dealt with.  This role is suited to someone who is handy themselves, and can fix/repair and deal with problems themselves first, before having to call in contractors etc.  You don’t need to do specific housekeeping duties, but you should be willing to be tidy, organized and help whenever the housekeeper is not around.

On the grounds there is a swimming pool which needs overseeing and maintaining, and you should be happy to undertake gardening duties as required, such as blowing leaves and light land maintenance, alongside any other gardeners who work at the property.

You should be a confident driver as the property is rural and help with driving duties for the principal as/when required.  Running errands and making sure the property is always cared for.

You will be in charge of liaising with the PA for the principal and you will be expected to attend the London property once a week as part of your duties.
