A family estate near Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, GL54 is looking for a live-in Housekeeper/Cook. You must drive and have your own car for this role.
Package Offered
- £35,000-£43,000 gross per year depending on experience.
- You will be provided with a 2-bedroom apartment on the grounds. Open to couples and pets.
Duties
You should be confident with all aspects of housekeeping and be able to clean and care for the home to a very high standard, with great attention to detail. You will be responsible for the daily and deep cleaning of the household and ensure it is always tidy and presentable. Making beds, cleaning bathrooms and all areas of the house. When the principles aren’t in resident you should be happy to assist elsewhere on the estate. You should be confident to look after a historic property and deal with security alarms if any issues arise, as well as be practically minded and liaise with the relevant parties if and when necessary. Cooking will be required for the family and kitchen meals and should be healthy and nutritious, dinner party standard is good but not essential.
You will be in charge of keeping the property secure and safe and cared for and work alongside part-time housekeepers. You should be confident to deal with problems as they arise and be a self-starter. Able to manage your time effectively and enjoy organizing, cleaning cupboards and re-organizing and refilling the pantry! You will be the main contact for the property.
When the principals are in residence you should be happy to cook for the family and their guests. They like to eat easy, fresh prepared food, nothing fancy - but you should be happy to assist with this and work flexible hours when the family are at home. You would be asked to run errands and assist elsewhere on the estate when the family are not there.
There are chickens who will require looking after as well as a vegetable garden to water and dogs to walk when required. There is a large estate team who will help with the gardening, but fresh vegetables should be utilised and prepared for the freezer. Jams and chutney making are essential as the pantry will require filling.
Location/Accommodation
The estate is based near Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, GL54. This is a live-in role, and you will be provided with a separate 2-bedroom flat with its own entrance within the property. The client is open to bringing partners and small house pets.
Days/Hours
- Working week to be discussed as hours and days will vary depending on the family movements. 45 hour working week. You should be happy to adjust each week to the daily duties of the estate, lending a hand in the different departments as needed.
- When the principal is in residence you will work longer hours and days, and potentially work an extra day each week. You'll have at least one day off a week but will typically work weekends when required. Some flexibility is expected around this. The family are in residence very infrequently so you'll generally only work the 45 hour week.
Languages
You must speak a good level of English to communicate with the family.
Special Skills
You must be extremely organised and have great attention to detail. You should enjoy cooking and serving. You should be confident and proactive. You must drive and have your own car for this role and like dogs.
