Our client is seeking a full-time housekeeper to join her home, based near Chipping Norton, Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, OX7. You should have a full driving license for this role.
Package Offered
- £29,000 - £36,000 gross per year, depending on experience
- Working Thursday - Monday, working 40 hours per week, with two days off a week.
- You will be provided with 2-bedroom accommodation to live in.
- A car can be provided for work duties.
Client Background
The spacious 8-bedroom property is set amongst 600 acres of beautiful grounds. The principal, who is in her early 80s, loves the outdoors, especially walks with her 2 Norfolk Terriers, and spending time with the horses. She was an avid rider and now involved in eventing. She is single, with a grown child and 2 grandchildren, who have a cottage opposite in the village. The household staff currently comprises of a personal assistant and full-time gardener who tends to the vegetable garden and grounds. Her current full-time housekeeper is retiring after 16 years of working for her, and she is looking for a new long-term member of staff to join her family home.
Duties
You should be confident with all aspects of housekeeping and be able to clean and care for the home to a high standard, with great attention to detail. You will be responsible for the daily upkeep of the house and ensure it is always tidy and presentable. Making the bed, cleaning the bathroom and all areas of the house. You will also be responsible for washing, laundry, ironing and just having a muck-in attitude to ensure the house is well cared for.
You should be happy to do the cooking for yourself and the principal, an easy breakfast, and then a simple lunch, with an easy-prepared (and left) dinner for the principal. Occasionally you will cook for up to 8 people when the principal has visitors, with informal family-style service and cooking. The cooking should be simple and not fussy, with the principal enjoying salads, roast chicken, and soups. You can enjoy making jams, chutneys and other puddings. They have a small vegetable garden which fresh produce can be gathered for the cooking.
You should be happy to be around animals and help look after the two dogs with feeding and going for walks. The key is for someone who want a relaxed, informal housekeeping role who just wants to be part of long-term family life.
Location/Accommodation
The principal lives near Chipping Norton, Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, OX7. This is a live-in role. You will be provided with lovely private 2-bedroom accommodation. The principal is open to individuals with pets (no cats) – with dogs, there would be a preference for female or neutered only dogs. If you have a partner/dependent this will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Days/Hours
- Typically working Thursday-Monday with Tuesday & Wednesday as your days off. However, the principal is flexible to give you different days off, but typically you’ll work over the weekend. It’s a very informal relaxed household.
- Working 40 hours per week
- 8am – 5pm each day with an hour lunch break
Languages
You must speak a good level of English to communicate with the principal.
Special Skills
You must be organised and have great attention to detail in relation to housekeeping. You should be a confident cook, be looking for a long-term role and be confident around animals. You should have a full driving license for this role.
