A principal with grown-up children is looking for a full-time Housekeeper for his house near Axminster, Devon, DT7. You should be able to drive to easily commute to the property, or be based at the property and a car can be provided.
Package Offered
- £30,000 - £42,000 gross per year depending on experience
- You will be provided with a 2 bedroom cottage with separate entrance, near the house if you choose to live in
- A car can be provided for work duties if you do not have your own car.
Family Background
This is a second property for the principal who is based in London. He uses this property with his children (who are grown) and entertains throughout the year. A large estate with 8 bedrooms, there are dogs on the estate and live on the grounds. A busy estate they are keen to find a trusted and long-standing member of staff who can support the principal when they are in residence and then keep the property secure and safe when they are not.
Duties
You should be confident with all aspects of housekeeping and be able to clean and care for the home to a very high standard, with great attention to detail. You will be responsible for the daily and deep cleaning of the household and ensure it is always tidy and presentable. Making beds, cleaning bathrooms and all areas of the house.
You will also be responsible for wardrobe management, laundry, ironing, organising cupboards and ensuring that the home is generally well presented and cared for.
You should be happy to do the cooking, and be a keen, experienced cook providing family-style, Mediterranean type healthy meals with game from the estate and produce from the vegetable garden. When the principal is in residence you should cook breakfast, lunch and dinner. When there are guests over you would be expected to cook for groups too.
Location/Accommodation
The estate is based near Axminster, Devon, DT7. This is a live-in role and you will be provided with a separate 2 bedroom cottage with its own entrance, linked to the main property. The client is also open to live-out candidates if you live in the local area. If you live out you must drive and have your own car.
Days/Hours
- Your usual hours will be 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm. When the principal is in residence you are expected to work flexible days and hours, and work weekends too, but with time off later to make up
- You will always at least have 1 full day off per week when the principal is in residence. When they are not in residence then you can time off in lieu and your hours will reduce.
Languages
You must speak a good level of English to communicate with the family.
Special Skills
You must be extremely organised and have great attention to detail. You should enjoy cooking and preparing healthy food. Most importantly, you should be warm and friendly and looking for a long-term role.
