A single female principal in Kensington, London, W8 is looking for a long term housekeeper to care for her beautiful home. This is a live out role so you must be able to easily commute to the property.

The principal is a single female and lives in her main residence in Kensington along with her large pet dog and small cat. She lives in an impressive 10 bedroom, 16 bathroom, 5 storey townhouse. The property has several stand out features including an indoor pool and bar. The home is decorated with many luxury furnishings, so you much be confident in handling these delicate items. The household is fully staffed with a PA, two house people, and two ladies’ maids. The current full time housekeeper is relocating abroad.
Duties
The successful candidate will be an experienced housekeeper who has worked in private households previously. They will be a strong team player with a warm, friendly, and happy personality. The principal is seeking a candidate who will become an integral part of the team, so it is important that you are looking for a long term role. The two house people and two ladies’ maids also assist with the housekeeping, so you must be happy to work closely with the team.
You should be confident with all daily & deep housekeeping duties and be able to clean and care for the home to a five-star standard. Much of the home is not in regular use, so will need occasional cleaning, the key focus of the work will be in the main living areas and master suite. You will be responsible for the upkeep of the household and ensure it is tidy and presentable at all times. The successful candidate should have strong initiative and an eye for detail. Duties include all housekeeping tasks such as wardrobe management, taking inventory of the stock levels in the kitchen, changing beds, and cleaning the bathrooms & kitchen etc. The house has luxury furnishings, antiques and fine art – therefore, it is vital that you have experience and feel confident in handling these items.
You should feel confident in wardrobe management, with an understanding of how to care for fine couture items. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling the laundry & ironing, preparing outfits daily, arranging dry clean appointments, and the packing/unpacking of luggage.
The principal enjoys cooking and therefore cooking is not an essential part of the role, but if you are a passionate cook, that would be a bonus. The principal enjoys many different cuisines but has a particular love for Asian dishes.
You must an animal lover, and be happy to assist with pet duties as needed – including walking, feeding etc.
Location
The principal lives in Kensington, London W8. You should be able to commute easily. This is a live-out role.
Days/Hours
- Working 40 hours per week, from Monday - Friday
- Working from 8am – 4:30pm, with a 30 minute break per day
- You should be happy to do occasional overtime hours when the principal is hosting guests, this is generally once every few months
- Any overtime would be agreed in advance and will either be paid or given as time in lieu
Languages
You must speak an excellent level of English to communicate with the principal.
Special Skills
You should be a skilled 5* standard housekeeper, with experience handling luxury furnishings.
