A warm American family, based in Cardiff, California, USA, are looking for a housekeeper to join their family home. This is a temporary, fixed-term booking until the 1st of August 2021, but the family would like to have the option to extend if possible. You must have the legal right to work in the USA to apply for this role.
Package Offered
- $55,000 - $80,000 gross per year depending on experience; salary will be adjusted pro rata based on the fixed term nature of this role
- You will be provided with your own live in area, with private room and bathroom
- Access to an automatic car for work duties if you drive
Family Background
A family with two professional working parents, and two beautiful 6 year old twin girls are looking for a new housekeeper to join their family home. The parents work full time, and their children attend school. They have a much loved family Labrador, and they have an active and busy family life. They are now keen to find a member of staff to join their family home, to give them the support they need in the house. They are currently renovating their main home, and living in rented accommodation - moving back into their main residence in the middle of July
Duties
You should be confident with all aspects of housekeeping and be able to clean and care for the home to a very high standard, with great attention to detail. You will be responsible for the daily and deep cleaning of the household and ensure it is always tidy and presentable. Making beds, cleaning bathrooms, floors and all areas of the house.
You will also be responsible for laundry, ironing, dry cleaning coordination, organising cupboards and ensuring that the home is generally well presented and cared for. You should be child friendly as the parents anticipate needing help with the children with bath routine and during the afternoons. Your main focus is on the house and cooking whenever required.
You should be happy to do the cooking, and be able to create fresh, easy menus and meals for the children and parents are dinner times, or at lunch during the holidays. Perhaps a few breakfasts during the work week if the need arises. You should be willing to run errands, help with organising the house and on rare occasions travel with the family. Typically when the family goes away you'll be looking after the much-loved family pet - so a dog lover is important! You should have a great attitude, and be willing to get involved in all aspects of family life.
Location/Accommodation
The family home is based near Cardiff, California, USA. Their current rented property is nearby the main residence. This is a live-in role and you will be provided your own bedroom and bathroom in the new property, and in the rented property your own bedroom and shared bathroom. The family are happy to consider local candidates who would prefer to live out, or have a flexi-arrangement.
Days/Hours
- Your usual hours will be 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday
- Occasional weekend work would be agreed in advance
- Anything outside of the standard contract hours would be paid in overtime or time off in lieu
Languages
You must speak a good level of English to communicate with the family. Any other languages such as Spanish would be a bonus.
Special Skills
You should be a good housekeeper, with strong attention to detail. You should enjoy cooking.
