A family based near Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, HP4 are looking for an experienced Housekeeper cook to join their team. This is a live-in or live-out role.
Package Offered
• £45,000 - £50,000 a year, depending on experience.
Family Background
The family live in a beautiful 10-bedroom property near Berkhamsted with their two dogs. Within the property, 4 bedrooms are in regular use, with others requiring making up from time to time if the family have guests to stay. They have 2 young children, soon to be three, and whilst no childcare duties are required, you must be comfortable working around them and being able to step in, with the occasional babysitting, would be a bonus. Cooking is also a large part of the role as the family are looking for someone happy and confident in the kitchen to provide family meals as needed. The property is usually busy and requires a housekeeper who is well organised, has good time management skills and able to work under their own initiative to help things run smoothly.
Duties
You should be professional and experienced as a housekeeper. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively help manage and run the household, be an excellent communicator and a proactive forward-thinking person. Whilst also keeping the property clean and tidy to the highest standards.
The role requires simple but nutritious cooking for the family, who enjoy a variety of cuisines.
Taking care of the laundry is a key element of the role.
The home has many wonderful antiques and fine furnishings that require particular care and attention, so experience caring for expensive and antique items is a positive.
Daily duties to include:
- Cleaning bathrooms, bedrooms, living room, kitchen, stairways, and other high-traffic household areas as required
- Once a month maintenance clean of the rest of the house
- Doing the laundry and organising the clothes
- Polishing silverware, dishes, glass and other items that need to be cleaned but cannot be washed in a dishwasher
- Cleaning and sanitising furniture and other items that cannot be moved from their location
- Dusting shelves, blinds, baseboards, ceilings, windowsills, and other surfaces in the home
- Cooking for the family, including menu prepping and ordering ingredients. The family already has a full-time nanny who looks after and cooks for the children. Helping out with the occasional dinner party is also desirable
- Helping care for the family pets
- Answering the door to manage tradesmen, deliveries and guests
- Running errands such as collecting dry cleaning or going to the post office.
