A beautiful large country estate near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, OX7, is looking for a new Garden Manager for their stunning grounds. This is a live in or live out role, accommodation will be provided if needed or you should live within a commutable distance of the property if live out.
Package Offered
- £40,000 - £60,000 gross per year depending on experience
Family Background
The estate is surrounded by parklands and a deer park. There are multiple members of staff who work both in the properties on the grounds and in the grounds themselves, and they are now looking for a new Garden Manager to lead the outdoor team and manage the gardens. The gardens comprise extensive lawns, pleasure grounds with mature treescape and bulb and wildflower underplanting, kitchen garden and herbaceous borders.
Duties
You should be highly organised, possess substantial experience, and thrive as a team player. Excellent communication skills are essential, and we expect you to not only integrate seamlessly with the existing team but also contribute to and enhance their collective skills and experience. Additionally, you should be willing to undertake various practical tasks as needed.
You should be a self-starter with an eye for detail and a passion for the upkeep of beautiful grounds. You should be passionate and skilled in maintaining vegetable gardens. You should be knowledgeable about plants/planting, maintenance and development of the beds, borders, lawns, shrubs and trees. You should be confident in dealing with contractors and be able to manage them.
You should have a good working knowledge of plants and lawns, be able to help with the different seasons and planting and manage and care for the grounds. You should be able to upkeep the tools and ensure they are kept in good working order.
You should be a strong, self-motivated team player, and be looking for a long-term role and a wonderful project to be involved with for years to come. You must be a passionate gardener and flexible in your work. You should have previous experience working in beautiful gardens and grounds and be a confident professional gardener.
Location/Accommodation
This role is near Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, OX7 and you have the option to live-in or live-out. Accommodation can be provided if needed.
Days/Hours
- Monday to Friday
- Working 7:30am – 4:30pm (flexible on hours as per daylight in summer/winter)
Languages
You must speak an excellent level of English to be able to communicate with the family and staff.
Special Skills
No professional qualifications are required for this role; however, you must be skilled in working with garden machinery and upkeep. You should have skills in planting and lawn care, and ideally if you hold a formal gardening qualification this would go in good favour. RHS and tree surgeon qualifications are desirable.
