Family Background
A warm couple with two young children aged six and nine are looking for a full-time housekeeper to help with the upkeep of their family home and to support the care of the children as the husband travels frequently for work. The couple are currently in the process of renovating their property.

Their current property, which is about to undergo extensive renovations, is a large 8 bedroom property, with stunning grounds within 10 minutes walk of an iconic Cotswolds village.  The family also have a cat so you must be happy around animals and their care for this role.

When the main property undergoes renovations, the family will relocate back to their previous property (near Evesham) which is 20 minutes from the main house, and the staff will relocate with them.  They need someone with a can-do attitude, willing to muck in and get fully involved in busy countryside family life!

Duties
You should be confident with all daily housekeeping duties and be able to clean and care for the home to a high standard. You will be responsible for the upkeep of the household and ensure it is tidy and presentable. You should have a good organisational approach, able to spot when areas need tidying, and have good household management. You should enjoy tidying and sorting cupboards and be a self-starter to get the job done.

Duties include all housekeeping tasks such as cleaning the property laundry, ironing, unpacking the groceries, watering house plants, and ensuring that the home is tidy, well run and well presented and where required, prepared for entertaining, pets are fed, the house and occupants are organised.   Ad hoc PA duties are also required and over time, the family require you to learn their needs and help support and predict them.   Other duties include ensuring supplies are maintained, management of utilities etc, managing deliveries, supporting school activities like knowing when events are.

Where relevant the family require support running a holiday rental in their nearby property which includes housekeeping, managing laundry, managing supplies, welcoming guests in etc.

You should enjoy country life, and be the type of person who is able to organise, manage and get fully stuck into duties.  Although cooking is not required on a daily basis, (mum loves to cook) you should be happy to chop veg/help with prep and help with tidy up before and after meals and cook for the kids from time to time and adult lunches where required

The parents are very hands on with the children, and mum likes to give specific time to each child in the afternoons and evenings.  You should be child friendly, and happy to help dedicate some time to help the children individually, giving mum some time to focus on one of the children.  So being comfortable and happy about children is also key.  You should be willing to help with babysitting and also do overnight proxy-parenting when agreed in advance when the parents are in London.

You should be happy to run errands weekly as needed, doing the school run, visiting the post office, dry cleaners, and supermarket etc. Due to the location you should be able to drive.

Location/Accommodation
The family live near Stow-on-the-Wold, GL54.  This is a live-in or live-out role.  The family are also open to flex- if you wish to live in during the week.  You will be provided with a private accommodation within the house or external depending on the situation.  When the family move to their second home during renovations, you’ll be provided a private cottage nearby to the family home, subject to availability.

Days/Hours

  • 5 days per week.  This will include every other Sunday, with two full days off per week but flexibility is required e.g., if a Saturday is requested, a day off in lieu would be offered.
  • Typically, your working hours will be 12 – 8pm.
  • One night of babysitting (8pm – Midnight)
  • One night of proxy-parenting each week (paid in overtime).
  • With flexibility to do additional when agreed in advance (and paid in overtime).
  • If you proxy-parent, then you would take the children to school in the morning.

You should be experienced at housekeeping and have an excellent eye for detail. You must be highly organised and have great attention to detail, willing to work as a team and be willing to adjust to the daily needs of the household.
