A down to earth principal is seeking a full-time housekeeper to join her home, based near Charlbury, Oxfordshire, OX7. This is a live-in role. You should have a full driving license for this role.
Package Offered
- £30,000 - £40,000 gross per year depending on experience
- You will be provided with 2-bedroom accommodation to live in.

Client Background
The spacious eight spacious bedroom property is set amongst 500 acres of beautiful grounds. The retired principal, loves the outdoors, especially walks with her two Norfolk Terriers, and spending time with the horses. She was an avid rider and now involved in eventing. She has a grown-up child and two grandchildren. The household staff currently comprises of a personal assistant and full-time gardener. Her current housekeeper is retiring after many years, and she is looking for a new long-term member of staff to join her family home.
Duties
You should be confident with all aspects of housekeeping and be able to clean and care for the home to a high standard, with attention to detail. You will be responsible for the daily upkeep of the house and ensure it is always tidy and presentable. Making the bed, cleaning the bathrooms, and having a daily routine. You will also be responsible for washing, laundry, and ironing. You should have a can-do attitude to ensure the house is well cared for. The key is for someone who wants a relaxed informal housekeeping role, who is energetic and active and wants to be part of a long term family life.
You should be happy to do the cooking for the principal. Normally no cooked breakfast would be needed, unless visitors staying. A simple lunch with an easy prepared (and left) dinner. Occasionally you will cook for up to 8 to 10 people when the principal has visitors with dinner party style cooking. Otherwise the food should be on the whole simple and not fussy, with the principal enjoying a wide variety of foods for example salads, soups, chicken etc . You should enjoy making jams, chutneys and dishes for the freezer. There is a small vegetable garden.
You should be happy to be around animals for this position. You must be happy to care for the dogs and help look after them, feeding them and going for walks.
Location/Accommodation
The principal lives near Charlbury, Oxfordshire, OX7. This is a live-in role. You will be provided with lovely private 2-bedroom accommodation. The principal is open to individuals with small indoor pets (no cats & dogs). If you have a partner/dependent this will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Days/Hours
- Typically working Thursday-Monday with Tuesday & Wednesday as your day off.
- The principal is flexible to give you different days off, but typically you’ll work over the weekend. It’s a very informal relaxed household.
- Working 40 hours per week
- 8am – 5pm each day with an hour lunch break
Languages
You must speak a good level of English to communicate with the principal.
Special Skills
You must be organised and have great attention to detail in relation to housekeeping. You should be a confident cook, be looking for a long-term role and be confident around animals. You should have a full driving license for this role.
