A lovely busy family in near Petworth, West Sussex, are looking for a long term, live in housekeeper who is child friendly, to look after their beautiful family home. You must have a full driving licence due to the location of the property.
A busy family of five, with three children (9, 8 and 11) who attend school and nursery. They have a full time nanny who cares for their three children. They have two dogs (Lurchers). On the grounds they have the main property which is a five bedroom house. They also have a four bedroom property on the estate, with other buildings such as a pool house with accommodation, barns and a gym. They have a full time gardener who tends their grounds. They have had staff for the last 20 years, and are experienced with providing a fantastic and professional environment for the staff to work in. They want to find a new caring, child friendly housekeeper who will be an integral part of their family life in a new long-term role with them.
You'll be responsible for all the housekeeping, deep cleaning, laundry and ironing. You might be asked to lend a hand if the nanny has to go to an appointment with a child and the children are in the house - so although this will be rare you should be comfortable around children. You will also be expected to babysit once or twice a week. The mum is very involved in family life, but you are there to support her, and get on top of all the housekeeping and duties within the house and the outbuildings. When the family travel you'll be expected to live in the property to take care of the dogs. If you are happy to cook this is great, but it won't be regularly. You should be looking for a long term position, as the family want to have a long term member of staff. As it's a busy family, you should be happy to be discreet and just have good common sense to get on with tasks at hand, to help make family life run smoothly.
You'll be provided with your own self-contained cottage, with two bedrooms in the local village of Petworth. This will be your own property to live in.
Tuesday to Saturday with Sunday and Monday off. 9am start, with a one and a half hour break for lunch, then working through to 7:30/8pm each day.
You should speak a good level of English to communicate with the family.
A full driving licence would be required. If you do not have a car you'll be provided access to a staff car.
£400 - £500 net a week plus accommodation. (£25-34K gross per year)
All taxes paid, and contract provided.
