A lovely family based near Taynton, OX18, Oxfordshire in the beautiful Cotswolds, are looking for a new, long-term live in house person/ house manager. This is a live in role. Due to the staffing accommodation on offer, this role is only suited to a single candidate with no dependents or partners. You should hold a full driving licence.
Package Offered
- £20,000 - £35,000 gross per year depending on experience.

Family Background
A family estate which is used as a weekend property, is now looking for a new, long-term live in house person/ house manager. A full staffed household, there are multiple groundsmen and gardeners and also another housekeeper who works underneath the head housekeeper. It's a busy household at the weekend when the family return to stay in the property, and with a number of children, ages ranging from 5 - 23, there can be between one to eight people in the property each weekend. There are some house pets, one dog which comes with the family on the weekend, and two cats which live there full time - therefore you should be pet friendly! You should also be comfortable around children, although this role doesn't have any direct childcare. They entertain regularly and the country house is a beautiful place for family to visit, unwind and for guests to come and be entertained. It is a large ten bedroom property, which has various outbuildings including a nine bedroom guest house, a pool, leisure centre and beautiful grounds. It is both impressive and historic. A great team work in the household and they are looking for a lovely new head housekeeper to join their estate.
Duties
What is important to remember in this role is that it is a hands on role. You are not purely managing. You would be expected to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in to duties and tasks including assisting the housekeeping and grounds men. You may also be tasked with maintenance, cleaning and upkeep of the cars. Upkeep of the house, eg cleaning and maintenance of the chandeliers, repainting furniture etc where needs be. You should be confident and skilled at housekeeping duties, including cleaning, ironing, washing, supporting the other staff, taking delivery of the food, unpacking and general house management. They have two housekeepers at the property but you should be prepared to assist/manage and help whenever possible. You shouldn't be wanting to purely manage, you need to be able to get stuck in to duties! Plans can change so you shouldn't be phased by family timetable changing. As a weekend house the role will work over the weekends, as this is when the family are always in residence. During the week the family rarely are at the property. You should have a flexible, adaptive and easy-going attitude, happy to get involved in family life and helping to run the estate. You should be well presented, happy to greet guests and help with the daily life and routine of the family. You should have excellent initiative and like to get on with things. You should be dynamic and positive.
Location/Accommodation
This is a live in position and you will be given accommodation on the grounds of the property near Taynton, OX18, Oxfordshire. If you wish to consider a live out role then this is also fine if you live within commutable distance.
Days/Hours
5 days a week. Each weekend you will work (unless the family are travelling). You'll have two full days off during the week. Working hours are 9am - 7pm each day.
Languages
You must speak a good level of English and understand the needs of a large working household, be confident and skilled in your approach.
Special Skills
You should be kind and focused looking for a long-term role. A great team worker, but willing to get stuck in to any tasks at hand.
