A vibrant and busy children's nursery in East London, Wanstead are looking for a full time junior Chef/Cook to join their team.
Nursery Background
A new nursery which has been established for just over a year, it is growing and developing every day. The team of 2 nursery staff manage between 50-60children on a weekly basis, helping care, inspire and educate them. They are now looking to add an exciting range of meals and options for the children and attract more families in the area to use their services.
Duties
You will be in complete charge of the kitchen which is a home-style kitchen. You will be in charge of menu planning, ordering, food inventory, budgets and preparing the food each week. Due to the ages of the children, low salt, no sugar diets are important, so you will be expected to create a varied and fun range of meals that appeal to the children. When the nursery is holding open days and parents evenings you might also be asked to prepare canapés and finger food. The meals for the children and staff are lunch and afternoon tea (early dinner). Should any of the children have special dietary requirements you would be expected to cook varied options to accommodate this.
Location
This is a live out role and the location of the nursery is in Wanstead, E11.
Days/Hours
Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with an hour break for lunch.
Languages
You should speak a good level of English to communicate with the staff and children.
Special Skills
A love of cooking and understanding (or desire to learn) about children and their diets and needs.
Package Offered
£18-24K a year depending on experience, full employed and contracted with 28 days holiday a year plus pension scheme.
