A couple who live in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, AL5, are looking to hire a full-time Housekeeper who is baby friendly, to help them look after their lovely home and also assist with their new baby. This is a live in or flexi role (live out at the weekend).
Package Offered
- £35,000 - £40,000 gross per year depending on experience.

Family Background
A friendly couple located in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, are looking for a new long term housekeeper, who has worked with families with babies before, to help manage their home, and care for their new baby due in January. They live in a beautiful property, and are excited to be welcoming their first child in January 2022. They are excited about the new beginnings, but equally would love to find a long-term member of staff who can help support the family in the household, with house duties, but also lend mum an extra pair of hands with the baby when needed. The father works full time, and mum will be taking a year off from work on maternity leave. The couple have a beloved Pomeranian dog, so you must be comfortable around animals for this role.
Duties
The mum will be focusing on the new bundle of joy and would like someone who can take over the housework, but who is also confident and experienced to help with the baby as needed.
Your work will be mainly focused on the housekeeping of the property including daily and deep cleaning, laundry, ironing and cleaning bathrooms. Vacuuming, mopping, laundry and general tidying. The successful candidate will be methodical, organised, and have a keen eye for detail.
You should be happy to assist with the childcare as needed, and be on hand to provide support to the new parents. You should have worked with babies before, either having had your own, or worked in households with babies, and know how to change a nappy, feed and keep the baby safe. You should be confident having sole charge of the baby for a few hours when mum has to pop out. Mum and dad are going to be extremely hands on, but you should be happy to lend a hand when needed to give mum a break!
You must be happy to cook as and when needed and create healthy family meals. You should also be happy to run errands to the grocery shop, pharmacy, and post office. You may need to walk the family’s small dog on occasion.
Location/Accommodation
The family home is located in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, AL5. The family will consider both full live in or flexi-candidates (live in during the week and live out at the weekends). A large ensuite bedroom on a separate floor can be provided if the candidate who choose to live in.
Days/Hours
- Working Monday – Friday.
- Working 7am – 7pm.
- With flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, as agreed in advance.
Languages
You must speak a good level of English.
Special Skills
You must have professional housekeeper experience in private households. You should have cared for babies before and be happy to help mum with the baby. You must have great attention to detail and clean to a high standard. If you can drive, this is a bonus but not essential.
