An international couple based in Manhatten, NY, USA, are looking for an experienced house manager/ housekeeper to manage, run and maintain their 5 story townhouse in Chelsea, NY. You must have the legal right to live/work in the USA to apply for this role.
Background
An international couple with no children, they travel regularly, but use the Manhatten base as their main residence. It is a five floors (with no elevator), and the couple have no pets at the moment but are planning on getting a medium sized dog in the near future. They travel, entertain and lead a busy lifestyle. Previously they have had part time staff in this property, but they now require a full time member of staff.
Duties
You would be in charge of the entire property, both in house management and house keeping. From dealing with contractors, running errands, shopping, through to maintaining the house to a high standard of house keeping, laundry, dusting, cleaning the silver, etc. Pet care would be included once the couple have the dog. You would also need to be able to cook to a reasonable level and would be cooking 2-3 meals a day. If you can cook to a higher standard (perhaps dinner party level) this would be appreciated but is not required. Cooking is a big part of the role. Healthy, fresh, organic food, sourcing the food from local farmers markets - so you should love to cook! Simply, you would have complete charge of the house and maintain it to the highest level. You should be discreet, professional and have common sense and initiative. Able to take direction well and follow instructions.
Location/Accommodation
This is offered as a live in OR live out position - they are open to what the preference is. The property is located in Chelsea, Manhatten so if you live out, you should be able to commute easily to work. If you choose to live in, you will be given you own private room and bathroom, and the couple are looking to (in the future) convert the basement level (with its own entrance) to be a private staff accommodation.
Days/Hours
50 hour working week. The principals are flexible if you'd like to work Monday to Friday 10 hours or less hours during the week and then occasional weekend work.
Languages
You should speak a good level of English.
Special Skills
You must have previous experience working in domestic residence, have excellent references and be looking for a long term position. If you have a driving licence this is a bonus.
Package Offered
Depending on experience, between $55K-75K a year, plus medical, dental and other incentives.
