A busy family of four based near South Kensington, London, SW10 are looking for an experienced full time housekeeper to work in their family home. This is live out role, so you must live within a commutable distance. You must have a full driving licence and be a confident driver.

Package Offered

  • £45,000 - £55,000 gross per year depending on experience
  • An automatic car will be provided for work duties

Family Background

The family comprises of parents and their two children, a son and a daughter, aged twelve and eight, who both attend a nearby school. The family has a beloved small dog, so you must be happy around animals for this role. The family home is a beautiful home near South Kensington, London. The house is set across five floors along with a furnished roof terrace. The home has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a gym, and a cinema room. The family also have a fully staffed country estate which they visit at weekends. They currently employ a team of gardeners.

Duties

The successful candidate should be flexible, reliable, honest, and highly discreet. You should be able to work independently and use your own initiative. The home is very organised, with everything having a place, so you should be happy to manage the upkeep of this. Our client is looking for candidate with a strong eye for detail.

You should be confident with all aspects of housekeeping and be able to clean and care for the home to a 5* standard, with great attention to detail. You will be responsible for the daily and deep cleaning of the house and ensure it is always presentable. Duties include making beds, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning the kitchens, and generally keeping all areas of the house clean, tidy, and organised. You should be happy to carry out a regular deep clean of the lesser used areas like the cinema room etc. 

The home contains many luxury features including fine art, antiques, and pristine furniture. It is essential that you have a strong knowledge of how to care for these items. The principals have many couture items so you must also be confident with wardrobe management and understand how to handle delicate items. You will be responsible for the family’s laundry and ironing.

You should be aware of any items that require repair or replacement and let the principal know. The housekeeper may also be asked to arrange and greet contractors.

You should have a driving licence (a car will be provided) as you will be required to take the children to various after-school activities or collect them from school. You should be happy to run some errands, including light shopping, trips to the post office, dry cleaners etc. The housekeeper will be responsible for the ordering of groceries and putting them away. 

You must be able and happy to cook and prepare simple healthy dishes daily for the children and parents, if required. The family eat out regularly, but when they are at home they enjoy basic family dishes like fish pie, shepherds pie, breaded chicken, grilled fish, and vegetables.

You should be happy to look after their dog as needed, including walking and feeding. The dog is usually cared for by an external service several times a week.

Location

The family home is near South Kensington, London, SW10. This is a live out role, so you must live within a commutable distance.

Days/Hours

  • Working Monday – Friday, with occasional weekend overtime.
  • Working from 9:30am - 6pm, overall 42.5 hours per week.
  • Flexibility is essential for this role. You must be happy to do hours of overtime as needed, this would be agreed in advance and will either be paid or given as time in lieu.

Languages

You must speak a good level of English to communicate with the family.

Special Skills

You should have prior housekeeping experience in private homes, and demonstrate a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of caring for specialist items such as antiques and couture clothes. You should be able to work independently and use your own initiative. The
