A large stately home in Hertfordshire is looking for an experienced head of gardening and grounds team member. You must have a full driving license for this role.

Family Background
A beautiful stately home in Hertfordshire, this is the family's part-time residence. Living in the property are a family of three, along with the live-in members of staff. They have beautiful grounds and a team of three gardeners who already work at the estate. They are looking for someone who can become a great asset to the team, who can work well on their own initiative and work well with a team of staff. You will be working alongside the current team of gardeners, being in charge of the team and reporting directly to the GM.
Duties
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day of the grounds, including ownership of budgeting, designing, planning and implementing routine maintenance and any projects across the estate. Overseeing the gardens, woodland and communal areas with support from the Head Groundsman and team members.
You should be a strong manager and able to ensure that the team’s daily duties, holidays, and absence/sick days are dealt with. Manage team meetings and ensue that jobs are completed in a timely fashion.
Comply with all current Health and Safety regulations and identify and manage any risks associated with working practices. You will be in charge of updating the teams certification (chainsaw, spraying etc)
Schedule routine maintenance and planting and any planned projects across the estate and plan budgets. Making sure that the estate is run carefully and to the highest standards of care and helping with new projects from start to completion.
Location/Accommodation
The family's home is in Hertfordshire. Accommodation is provided on site, a three bedroom cottage with a garden.
Days/Hours
- Working Monday – Friday
- Working 8am – 4:30pm
Languages
You should speak an excellent level of English.
Special Skills
You must have solid experience as a Gardener/Groundsperson with all relevant qualifications as required. You should be an excellent team worker. You must have a full driving license for this role.
