A formal, grade II, historic building in central London, Mayfair, W1K are looking for a new focused, hard-working and flexible Domestic Couple – with the focus on house management to join their family staff.
Package Offered
- £55,000 - £92,000 gross per year for the couple
- Accommodation can be provided as part of the package if it is required.
Family Background
A formal household with staff, are looking to recruit a new long-term domestic couple, to manage their household. A distinguished household, the principals live abroad, but use their London and countryside properties whenever they are travelling to the UK. Their property in Central London has been entirely renovated, and is nearing the end of renovation, and now need to have an experienced and focused domestic couple who can manage and work in the property and lead the household staff going forward.
Duties
As a couple, you will be focused on all aspects of household management, from dealing with recruitment of new staff, dealing with existing staff and also ensuring schedules and rotas are handled correctly. Having an eye for detail across the board, and being a good team player is key, as you’ll be dealing with the household staff in the country property (liaising with the house managers there) and dealing with the family office based in France. You should be excellent at communication and also have confidence managing high end properties.
You should be discreet and well-presented and be highly skilled in formal service. The family are Middle Eastern, so you should have a respect of this culture and understand how to work with different family members accordingly. You should be able to organise formal and informal events and ensure that the house is run smoothly.
As with the Middle Eastern culture, it may be appropriate for you to work with different family members when this arises, to respect their need for privacy.
When the family visit, they will stay between their London property and their countryside property, and they have children, grandchildren etc. They do not have pets. You should be highly attuned to a busy household when they are in residence and be extremely flexible. When they are not in residence your hours will be regulated as long as the duties are completed.
You should be willing to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in to duties, although there will be a fully staffed team of housekeepers etc in the property, but ultimately the buck stops with you, so you’ll both need to be focused on ensuring that the household is run beautifully and effectively.
Location/Acccommodation
This is a role in Central London, Mayfair, W1K and you should be able to commute easily to the property if you life out. Accommodation can be provided if required and this would be negotiated as part of the overall package.
Days/Hours
- Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm when the family are not in residence
- When the family are in residence (which is infrequently) you’ll be expected to work longer hours and weekends as it’s all hands-on deck when the family are in town.
Languages
You must speak a good level of English to be able to communicate with the other managers at the other properties and family office.
Special Skills
You should have strong experience as a house manager as a couple, and be able to manage high end, luxury properties.
