A busy family based near Dorking, Surrey, GU6 are looking for a new long-term live-in Domestic Couple to join their family staff.  This position is set in a rural area with no nearby public transport so it would be beneficial if you can drive.  A car is available to use on an ad-hoc basis but you should either have a car or be prepared to ask the PA to give you lifts to the nearest train station/bus stop on your time off.

Package Offered

  • Up to £75,000 gross per year for the right couple
  • Private self-contained two-bedroom cottage on the grounds.

Family Background

A wonderful, friendly and down to earth family with four children (aged 10, 13, 15 and 16), are now looking for a new long-term Domestic Couple to become part of their busy family life.  The parents are both professionals and have a very busy work week.  On their grounds is the main 7 bedroomed property as well as outbuildings which you are responsible for taking care of.  There is no childcare involved and the family have no pets. 

Duties

Housekeeper:

You should be confident with all aspects of housekeeping and be able to clean and care for the home to a high standard, with great attention to detail. You will be responsible for the daily and deep cleaning of the household and ensure it is always tidy and presentable. Making beds, cleaning bathrooms and all areas of the house. You will also be responsible for laundry, ironing, and ensuring that the home is generally well presented and cared for.  You should have strong initiative and an eye for detail, the house is beautifully cared for, so you need to be able to come in, and keep the standards high.  You'll be looking after the main property and the other properties on the estate.  You should be child friendly but there is no one to one care involved.  You should have boundless and positive energy.  There are lots of stairs to climb and no lift in any of the buildings.  

Chef/House Person:

The chef needs to have experience working for private households with expertise in organic, Mediterranean, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free cooking. You will plan weekly menus according to the Employer’s needs and dietary restrictions. Menus should be original, organic, and always fresh. Create innovative and new dishes for menus. Maintain high levels of presentation, including proper formal and informal place settings and service. Shop for and order food, kitchen supplies, and equipment using preferred suppliers. Stock and organize the kitchen. Maintain kitchen (including all equipment, appliances, supplies, the bar and banquet seating areas, the wine room, and the butler’s pantry) to a superior level of cleanliness and hygiene. Plan and prepare food for parties, holiday meals, luncheons, special functions, and events for up to 16 guests. Travel with Employers to vacation homes to provide meal preparation. You will also look after the fleet of cars, ensuring they are taxed and MOT’d and maintain the direct outside areas of the property (patios, BBQs and eating areas), although the family do have gardeners so there will be no gardening work involved.

Location/Accommodation

The family live near Dorking, Surrey, GU6.  You will be provided with your own private accommodation on the grounds of the estate in a beautiful self-contained 2 bedroom cottage,  With its own bathroom, living room and kitchen and outdoor area.  A television is provided and basic furniture.

Days/Hours

  • Both of you will work 5 days per week to include weekends with the same 2 days off each week. 
  • Working 8am - 7pm, with a one-hour lunch break
  • You will be expected to work over the Christmas holidays but would be free to take a holiday after that period has ended.

Languages

You must speak a good level of English to communicate with the family and other staff.

Special Skills

One of you must be highly organised and have great attention to detail in relation to housekeeping, and one of you must be an experienced chef. It would be extremely helpful if one of you could drive.  It would also be helpful if you are IT literate as the staff use a communications app to keep up to date with each other.  They are happy to teach you! You should also love a quiet countryside life!  It's a stunning part of the world to live in, and the family look after their staff who all stay in long-term positions with them.   You should be trustworthy, reliable and always happy to adjust to the families requirements.

Interview/Start date

The PA and Head Housekeeper will be interviewing now for the right couple.  You will then have a meeting with the Principals.  We are recruiting safely within the COVID-19 regulations.
