Client Background
The property is located in Belgravia and currently, two principals are living in the property, but they have a large family who visit a few times a year. They are easy-going, down-to-earth principals who like a variety of different cuisines. They have no pets in the household. They employ a number of housekeepers and other staff who look after the property. They are looking for a chef to join their team.
Duties
You should be a skilled Chef and you will be responsible for the planning, preparation and cooking of daily meals. There is a focus on Middle Eastern cuisine but you should be happy to experiment with different styles of cooking too. They enjoy fresh, homemade, comfort food. Regular cakes and treats are a welcome addition too.
You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and keeping it in good condition. Cleaning all surfaces and floors after use, keeping pots, pans and all work surfaces well cleaned and polished. You will also ensure that the ovens and refrigerators are clean and out-of-date items are discarded.
You will also monitor and replenish food supplies and equipment for the household. On a day-to-day basis, you will prepare all meals for the principals and occasionally for guests too.
You will be in charge of all the food ordering and ensuring the menus are planned each week. Computer literacy is essential as well as managing the monthly spend for the kitchen. You should be flexible and willing to cook as to the preferences of the principals, and happy to be led by the tastes of the principals to adjust the menus as required.
When the family are visiting, a few times a year, it’s all hands on deck. You should be flexible and able to adapt to a higher number of guests. Additional kitchen help is employed during these busier times.
Location
The property is in Belgravia, London, SW1. This is a live-out role, and you should be able to commute easily to the property daily.
Days/Hours
- During normal weeks 8am – 3pm over 5 days (normally one weekend day off and one midweek off)
- When the family are visiting, you should be flexible to work 6 days per week and longer hours
Languages
You must speak a good level of English.
Special Skills
You should be a skilled chef with experience in a private household.
