A professional couple living between Lower Manhattan, their property in Montana and travel extensively, are looking for an experienced Butler with strong personal assisting skills, to work for their home. You should be an experienced Butler or PA, looking for a long-term role. Due to location, you must reside within commuting distance of their property in New York, have a full driving licence and be willing to travel to Montana with the couple.
Package Offered
- $175,000 - $225,000 gross per year depending on experience.
Family Background
This couple are looking for an experienced Butler and EA to work in their household. They reside predominantly in their single-bedroom New York loft with their beloved Boston Terrier, Jeff. The couple also own an extensive ranch in Montana which has several small homes and large homes in the design phase, set amongst 13,000 acres of pristine and rugged landscape, including a cattle operation and horse program. They have adult children who occasionally come to visit and they host gatherings throughout the year at their properties.
The principals lead particularly busy lives and are looking for someone to assist them with running their households and managing his professional part-time travel and business calendar. He sits on several boards and is a general partner in a VC firm, requiring reliable support.
Duties
This is not only a traditional Butler role, you will be supporting the couple with a range of service-orientated butler, EA and PA duties. Encompassing silver service, household management and organisation, while prioritising his extensive travel, diary and calendar management.
The ideal candidate for this role will have experience as a professional butler and personal assistant, and ideally EA experience, adaptable to formal, professional and informal environments. You should have strong organisational skills and operate with finesse. You must be flexible and reliable as plans change frequently, and often at short notice.
You should be well-presented, professional and a discreet individual who understands the importance of confidentiality. Overall, the quality of your service must be the very highest - providing effortless and discreet service for the principals and their guests.
You will be assisting with event planning and execution, such as parties or social gatherings. You will be meeting and greeting guests and ensuring that the principals and their guests have everything they need.
You should also be skilled at personal valeting duties, from wardrobe management through to clothing care. You should have knowledge of running and organizing households and be an excellent leader. You will oversee repairs, contractors and maintenance within the property.
The couple will need notes taking during their regular ranch meetings and personal support in organizing their ranch interaction and management,
You will be the main point of contact for the principal and must be a good team player with excellent communication. One of your primary duties will be professional calendar, travel & diary management, for which, exceptional levels of organisation and responsiveness are required. You will also be expected to make international travel arrangements including organising VISAs, transport and accommodation as well as carrying out any other ad-hoc duties.
You must be willing to travel with the family at least 75% of the time, the role requires complete flexibility.
Additionally, you will need to be able to:
- Deal with other EAs for calendar management, reliably and efficiently.
- You should be IT literate, able to deal with the different databases and processes that the family uses and learn quickly how to operate and use them.
- Organise the most efficient travel routes door-to-door, and have an understanding of luxury accommodations and the couple’s restaurant preferences.
- Be responsive to emails and phone calls.
- Arrange personal appointments.
- Process of invoices and expenses.
- Manage of extensive contacts database including key events/dates.
- Conduct research as needed.
Location/Accommodation.
This is a live-out position and you should currently reside in New York so that you might easily commute to the property. During periods of travel and stays at the Montana property, luxury accommodation will be provided.
The family travel extensively but spends the majority of their time at their homes in New York and Montana.
Days/Hours
Working as needed for what the moment requires. Heavier weeks should be offset with lighter periods. This schedule is NOT consistent but in average should be an approximate 5-6 day work week, akin to an executive or high performer’s schedule. This is not a clock in and clock out job.
Languages
You must speak a good level of English to communicate with the family and other staff members.
Special Skills
Strong silver service, EA skills and butler skills are a must for this position. You must be discrete, professional and flexible for this role. You must have a full driving licence and excellent organisational skills.
